Jim Murphy- President

Jim serves as President of Carbon Green, Chairman of Carbon Green BioEnergy and Chairman of CG Greenhouses. He has extensive experience in the ethanol fuel and biomass-to-power markets, and a unique perspective of the sustainable food business as it relates to renewable energy. Jim's main focus is to identify new or synergistic technologies and raise the capital required to fund their implementation in new or existing businesses.

In addition to his 20 years of experience as a founding board member of EPCO, a company that produces and distributes liquid CO2 captured primarily from ethanol producers, Jim also served in several leadership posts at the Chicago Board Options Exchange.

Away from the office, Jim is dedicated to helping the Chicago communities where he lives and works, funding two major educational not-for-profits in the Chicago area: The Daniel Murphy Scholarship Fund and The Chicago Charter School Foundation.

Gary Lazarski- General Counsel

Gary is General Counsel for both Carbon Green and Carbon Green BioEnergy and serves on the board of both companies.  Over the past year he led the acquisition of an ethanol plant out of bankruptcy (now Carbon Green BioEnergy, LLC), worked with the Michigan Economic Development Corporation to secure tax-free Renaissance Zone status for the plant and lobbied Congressional leaders on behalf of clean energy legislation.   Before joining Carbon Green at its inception in 2005, he spent nine years with Schonfeld Securities as an equity trader and Branch Office Manager in the Chicago office, then 3 years as President of Titan Trading Services. He graduated cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, and earned his law degree from the University of Michigan Law School. His FINRA securities licenses include the Series 3, 7, 9, 10, 24, 55 and 63.  Gary has been a member of the Illinois Bar since 1992. 

Brandon Pearlman- Vice President of Business Development and Operations

Brandon currently serves as the Vice President of Business Development and Operations at Carbon Green LLC. Over the past 12 months, he supported the successful acquisition of a bankrupt VeraSun biofuels refinery (now Carbon Green BioEnergy, LLC) by developing a comprehensive business plan and market strategy. He also led the business and industry due diligence throughout, enabling an overall streamlined acquisition process. In addition, he recently developed a business plan for a biomass project including analyzing logistics, market opportunity, economics (micro/macro), and competing technologies. Currently he is working to help secure financing and develop this project into a large-scale commercial facility. Prior to joining Carbon Green, he was a management consultant to various Fortune 500 companies. He has experience in strategic and business process engagements serving such companies as Tyco International, Fannie Mae, Navistar/International, and Aon Corporation. He graduated from the University of Iowa with a BA in Economics and concentrations in entrepreneurial finance and operations.
