Climate Change

The Greenhouse Effect is the naturally occurring process by which the earth traps heat and energy from the sun.  This is possible due to a delicate balance of gasses in the Earth’s atmosphere and makes our planet hospitable to biological life.  Climate ChangeOver the past 50 years the amount of greenhouse gasses (GHGs) being released into the atmosphere has risen dramatically due to human activity, intensifying the Greenhouse Gas Effect and warming the planet.

Climate change has adverse effects on many different aspects of the ecosystem including the intensity of hurricanes and other extreme weather, less predictable weather patterns, species extinction, the spread of disease, clean water, global temperature and many more.  A consensus has been reached in the scientific community that human-induced climate change is taking place with untold effects.  Transportation is responsible for as much as one fifth of all CO2 emissions every year.  By investing in the biofuel industry we can reduce that percentage.

A study commissioned by former British Prime Minister Tony Blair was charged with assessing the evidence and building understanding of the economics of climate change.  The STERN Review on the Economics of Climate Change confronts the argument of those who accept that climate change is happening, but assume that it is does not make economic sense to change things.  The 700-page report concludes that inaction will prove far costlier to business and government than will efforts to mitigate climate change.  It argues for policies that are both “pro-growth and pro-green”.

We at Carbon Green agree with the STERN report's findings.  Creating innovative and profitable business solutions to climate change is imperative to the future of both the environment and the business community.
